Race Game Details for 2010 NASCAR Chase Race

Overview
This competition is a league over the 2010 NASCAR Chase races. The NASCAR format is that the top 12 drivers qualify to compete in “The Chase”. The chase is that last 10 races of the season, but it's not just the qualified drivers that compete - each race still has 43 drivers. Those drivers not in the chase are still battling away to get wins and to remain in the top 35 so they automatically qualify for the first races of the following season.

Competition
The objective of this competition is to pick the top 10 drivers of each race in the 2010 chase and to put them in the right order. You will be able to pick from all of the race entrants (including those that need to qualify to race). Each race will open when the entrants have been named and updated. If you register for this event, you will be notified by email when the picks are available and when the race will be locked. Typically, the race will open on a Tuesday or Wednesday and will lock before the race starts. You should be able to see the qualifying results prior to the race locking.

Points
At the beginning of each race, each entrant is awarded 150 points to start. Points are deducted for every position each of your 10 drivers finish from where you predicted them to finish (e.g. if you picked Juan Pablo Montoya to finish 10th and he wins, you would score -9). Points are always negative. Bonus points are awarded for correctly picking a driver's finishing position. Higher bonus points are awarded for picking the winner than picking 10th position. The bonus points for this competition are as follows:

Position12345678910
Bonus Points2018161412108642

The most points you can score for each race is the 150 starting points plus all the bonus points, being 260 points.

Additional Information
  • Any driver that does not qualify for the race will be considered to finish 44th (1 above the 43 entrants). As noted, the list of drivers to pick from includes those that have to qualify, so it's up to you to change after qualifying before the race locks.
  • After you have picked your drivers for the first race, they will automatically copy forward race-to-race. Therefore, if you just want to pick your drivers once and see how you do, that works, you picks will be the same each week.
  • If a driver is copied forward and doesn't enter the following race, it will score -44 points.
