Cliff House Outing

Decided to take a quick trip out to the Cliff House to do a spot of sea bird watching. Didn't last long as it was bloody cold, but did get to see a few of the local inhabitants. One thing I didn't know is that there are rather a lot of different types of gulls. I'd pretty much been branding them all as “seagulls” and it turns out that this is not one of the types. I have to say that even after reading about each of them, they do kind of look pretty much the same and have very similar habits, so it's rather difficult to tell which one you're looking at. I'm pretty sure that the birds photographed are Western Gulls and Brandt's Cormorants, but I'm not going to bet on it. The larger bird is a Brown Pelican.

Stopped at Golden Gate Park on the way back. There was very little happening until we'd turned round to go home and in flew a great egret which kindly hung around for a little while to let me take a couple of photos of it. As did the rock pigeon that came along at the end.
