Hayward Shoreline September 2013

Another birding trip on the long weekend. This one to Hayward Shoreline. A really nice afternoon to be honest - lovely breeze coming in from the Bay, so it wasn't too hot. Unfortunately, I may have got my timing off a little bit as the tide was out (I think) and the birds were on the mud flats to the bay rather than in the pond that I think is known as Frank's dump. Means the photos are more like silhouettes rather than clear detail. I did get a curlew with something in its long bill and also an egret catching its dinner whilst I was walking back to the car. Not a lot captured, but the list is as follows:

  • American Avocet
  • California Gull
  • Long-Billed Curlew
  • Sanderling
  • Short-Billed Dowitcher
  • Snowy Egret
  • Turkey Vulture
