White Slough Walk February 2009

Lovely weather and the opportunity to get out and try somewhere else that we've not been to. White Slough is a wetland in Vallejo that runs alongside highway 37. This makes it somewhat noisy, but there was a good selection of birds to look at in order to take your mind off the traffic whizzing by. That said, we didn't really come across anything new on this outing, but I suspect this place will be somewhere we'll come back to and it looks like it will get a good variety of birds. This outing produced:

  • American Avoce
  • American Coot
  • Anna's Hummingbird
  • Black-Necked Stilt
  • Canvasback
  • Cinnamon Teal
  • House Finch
  • Killdeer
  • Mallard
  • Northern Shoveler
  • Ruddy Duck
  • Short-Billed Dowitcher (I think)
  • Snowy Egret
  • White-Crowned Sparrow
