2009 Sonoma Bennett Lane Winery 200

Congratulations to Jason Bowles winning for the second year running, although he needed a little help from his teammate Patrick Long. Patrick had been battling head to head with Joey Logano and actually made it past him. Unfortunately for Patrick, the caution flag flew and NASCAR brought them back to their position at the beginning of the lap which meant Joey was back in front of Patrick. Patrick wasn't able to get back past Joey and on the last corner (turn 11) of the last lap, made a rash move that spun Joey out. Patrick was first across the start/finish line, but was penalized for his move handing the win to Jason who had been doing a great job of working his way through the field and staying out of trouble.

On the photo creativity side I decided to try some “motion panning” which basically means using a relatively low shutter speed and panning with the subject in order to keep it in focus and make the background blurred. There are a couple that came out OK - one of Boris Said in the 57 isn't too bad. I think you need to be lower down so that you're at the same height as the car to get a better contrast with the background rather than being up in the stands.
