Arrowhead Marsh for Clapper Rail April 2009

Karen was going into town to see a show with a friend. I dropped her off at the BART station and decided to take the little fellow for a walk at Arrowhead Marsh in Oakland. There was a post at some point mentioning that there were clapper rail there. Again, it didn't disappoint - I found several including one that appeared to be tagged with some kind of radio transmitter. Also got to photograph my first tern - I think it's a Caspian tern, but I'm not 100% sure. Bird list as follows:

  • American Coot
  • American Wigeon
  • Barn Swallow
  • Canada Goose
  • Caspian Tern
  • Chipping Sparrow
  • Clapper Rail
  • Greater Scaup
  • Herring Gull
  • Western Grebe
  • White-Winged Scoter
  • Willet
