OK, so the race is decided on the Saturday and Lando Norris was able to take his car from pole all the way to Victory Lane. Monaco is not well known for interesting races, but it's definitely the place to be. The FIA did try to make things somewhat more interesting by introducing mandatory use of all tire compounds forcing the teams to make two stops. This did absolutely nothing for the race though and made no difference whatsoever. What it did was saw teams pit one driver and then have the other driver hold the field up in an attempt to allow the first driver to gain some track position. It didn't work and just served to frustrate.
Hats off to Red Bull who at least tried to do something different, pitting Yuki on the first lap and running max long. Again, neither strategy yielded anything, but at least they tried. Interestingly enough, I sat next to Richard Wood on the flight over who is Yuki's race engineer. I had been talking to William all weekend about the thought of pitting on lap 1 to see if you could get lucky with an early safety car. I didn't suggest it to Richard, but it was amusing that, of all the drivers, Yuki actually tried this.
Apple maps did this thing where they marked the circuit on their map. I got William to take a screenshot when we were at our viewing position so you can see where we watched the race from. This is in one of the pictures below.
