Tilden Jewell Lake May 2010

Early morning walk to Jewell Lake at Tilden. The first song sparrow photographed threw me as I thought it was a golden crowned kinglet. It just seems to have a leaf stuck on its head that kept flashing gold in the light. Other than that, was nice to see the Wilson's warblers out and I would have been very excited at seeing the black-headed grosbeak if it hadn't been for the fact that one had turned up in our garden the day before and had presented itself for us to look at. Birds photographed:

  • American Robin
  • Anna's Hummingbird
  • Black Phoebe
  • Black-Crowned Night-Heron
  • Black-Headed Grosbeak
  • Dark-Eyed Junco
  • Mallard
  • Song Sparrow
  • Wilson's Warbler
