Vote #990

The following question was presented:

I've been watching what I eat and doing a bit of exercise in an attempt to lose weight. I need to get rid of my gut as it's just too big now. The thing is, I haven't been weighing myself since I've started doing this. My last weight was at my last visit to the doctor's office. I'm not aiming high, just trying to drop around a pound a week. I have to go to the doctor's again this week on Thursday (for my annual physical) and I'll find out my weight then. It's possible I could have put on weight for all I know. Anyway, how much weight will I have lost on Thursday when I get weighed (5.5 weeks since my last weighing)?

Analysis:

I should have had more faith in what I was trying to do and set bigger ranges as I did indeed lose over 10lb in the 5.5 weeks since my last weighing. According to the scales in the doctors, I lost 12lb, so 2lb a week give or take. That's double my target of $1lb a week. I suspect the rate of weight loss will start to decrease going forward, but I'm not trying break any records. The aim is to get rid of my gut so I can move around a bit easier. I guess we'll see as time passes. My next weighing will be in a couple of weeks when I get my next infusion.
