Photos from our trip to Costa Rica. We arrived in San Jose on December 31st just in time to celebrate the new year. The photos are from outings we took to look at the wildlife at the beginning of 2010.

Now, I'm not sure if I've become more discerning or useless, but I'm not overly impressed with the majority of the pictures taken. That said, they do serve as a good reminder of the different things (mainly birds) that we saw. I also think that the more I've got into photography, I seem to be improving my excuses rather than skills ..... “the boats we were on were rocking too much”, “the rain forest is too dark and you can't use a flash”, “we're looking at it against a white cloud so all I can get is a silhouette” etc. etc. In fairness there are a couple of decent shots of some of the herons, I think it's that I didn't get any amazing shots of anything super exotic.

Talking of super exotic, most people go to Costa Rica to see the resplendent quetzal. Everyone that is except for us as we ended up not having any trips booked to where these chaps live (in the higher elevations). I guess the next one or ones on the list are the scarlet macaw and the great green macaw. Again, we didn't really have anything booked where these hang out, however, we did get lucky enough to see both of these. I suppose, as they say, two out of three ain't bad!
