Vote #911

Question:

I'm thinking about splurging and buying a few big ticket items. Should I treat myself to some new toys?

Results:

Yes was the clear winner with 100% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Yes (100%)
  • No (0%)

Analysis:

Unanimously I should go on a spending spree, but it might be too late as the tariffs have dropped. I’m more likely to hold onto my money for now and wait until the dust settles. I’ve got to think many people are thinking the same way which doesn’t bode well for the economy.

Question:

Well, I got the call from Donald and tariffs are going to be placed on this website. Will you be able to afford the tariff inflated cost of the EastBayRag website?

Results:

No was the clear winner with 75% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Yes (25%)
  • No (75%)

Analysis:

Ha, ha! No, I don't think any of us can afford Donald's tariffs. God knows what he's trying to do. I hope God knows, because I don't think anyone else does including himself.

Question:

OK, this week's vote question comes from a random YouTube video that popped up on my playlist before I needed to wipe, so I watched it. Does Lightning McQueen get car insurance or life insurance?

Results:

Life Insurance was the clear winner with 83% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Car Insurance (17%)
  • Life Insurance (83%)

Analysis:

Interesting, a clear winner with life insurance meaning you all think Lightning McQueen is more alive than he is a car. This view was also shared by the majority of the F1 paddock. I have to be honest, it was amusing watching a YouTuber going up to all the F1 drivers and saying "I've got the most important question in motorsport and then asking this question". It did seem like all the drivers enjoyed being asked the question too.

Vote #914

Question:

A week that sees Leicester demoted back down to the Championship and nearly crowning Liverpool as the champions. Do you think Leicester will be able to hang on to their talent to come back to the premiership next season?

Results:

No was the clear winner with 50% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Yes (25%)
  • No (50%)
  • What Talent? (25%)

Analysis:

I’m surprised “what talent” didn’t win. That was the conclusion of the commentators when we lost to Liverpool. They were saying that it’d be hard for Leicester to hang onto their talent and then proceeded to say that nobody would want any of the players. My best guess would be some of the teams coming up might have some interest. I guess we’ll see. Sadly, but probably the right decision, Jamie Vardy has decided to leave.

Vote #915

Question:

With Jamie Vardy announcing that he’s going to leave Leicester at the end of the season (although not retiring altogether), do you think they should put up a statue of Jamie Vardy outside Leicester’s stadium?

Results:

No was the clear winner with 71% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Yes (29%)
  • No (71%)

Analysis:

Well, I'm surprised. I definitely think they need to put a statue of Jamie Vardy up and I think outside the stadium would be a great place to do it. Looks like most of you don't agree with me though.

Question:

A big sporty weekend with congratulations going to Oscar Piastri for the Miami Grand Prix win and to Team Falcons (Zer0, ImperialHal, Wxlty and Draugr) for winning the Apex Legends Global Series. I'm going to stick with the sport theme and with the Jamie Vardy theme for this week, although I'll probably stop after that. Do you think Jamie Vardy will get his 200th goal for Leicester before he leaves at the end of the season?

Results:

Yes was the clear winner with 100% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Yes (100%)
  • No (0%)

Analysis:

Sadly he didn't manage it this weekend even though Leicester somehow managed to score 2 goals against our rivals. That said, I would like to see Forest get a spot in Europe. They've had an outstanding season.

Looks like he made it! 200th goal in his 500th game and then calling it quits. Seems like a very round set of numbers to go out on and a phenomenal career at Leicester winning the major trophies. He will forever be a legend to the Foxes!

Vote #917

Question:

I have one full week before we head to my big trip. I was thinking through a few things and there's something I might buy when I'm back home in the UK, but then I got to wondering. Will I have to pay tariffs on things I buy in France or England when I return to the US?

Results:

No was the clear winner with 67% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Yes (33%)
  • No (67%)

Analysis:

So, I believe the correct answer to this is actually “it depends”. I only did a quick search and it seems that you need to pay tariffs on certain items if you bring back more than $800 worth of goods. I'm not actually planning on brining anything back, so I won't be paying tariffs (at least at customs, anyway).

Question:

Alright, so next weekend I should be on top of a penthouse in Monaco watching the F1 Grand Prix. One concern I have is that the tickets say that the penthouse I'm going to be in is not accessible by wheelchair or other mobility device and I'm going to be going in a wheelchair. I'm guessing that there are steps into the building which I should be able to manage while William carries the wheelchair up, but I don't know this for sure. Will I be able to get into the penthouse where I'm going to watching the Grand Prix next week?

Results:

Yes was the clear winner with 71% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Yes (71%)
  • No (29%)

Analysis:

Short answer yes, we got in

Vote #919

Question:

All being well, I should be mid my France/Monaco/UK trip. (I'm setting this question ahead of time). I did a wander around my garden before I left and my figs are looking like they'll ripen soon. Knowing my luck, they'll ripen as soon as I leave and be overripe and moldy on the floor when I return. Will my figs be good to eat when I return from my trip or will they have over ripened?

Results:

Over ripened was the clear winner with 57% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Good to eat (43%)
  • Over ripened (57%)

Analysis:

Good planning meant I set this question ahead of time so I didn't forget a vote Austin while I was away. Bad planning as I'm not back yet and I've no idea as to the state of my figs. I'll have to post back in the comments.

I may have thought they were further along than they were/are. I've got back and they're fine. Looks like they have a bit to go, but I think they ripen very quickly.

Vote #920

Question:

All there is to do now is look to my retirement. Will my final month of work be an easy one?

Results:

Yes was the clear winner with 83% of the votes from the following selection:

  • Yes (83%)
  • No (17%)

Analysis:

I think it should be. I have 2 go-lives, but my successors should really be taking over given they will be carrying the accounts forward.
